SAMe is a substance that occurs naturally in the body. It is involved in several processes in the body, playing an important role in the immune system, keeping cell membranes intact and helping to synthesize brain neurotransmitters (1) . It may be useful for enhancing the effects of some antidepressants and reducing the decline in brain function in people with depression (2) . Some studies also show that it can be useful in situations of osteoarthritis, fibromyalgia ( 3) and liver problems (4) .
